Founded in 1948, the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI) is an elite club comprising the world’s leading graphic designers and illustrators.?Every year a different city is given the honour of organising and hosting the week-long AGI Congress. The first couple of days are reserved exclusively for its members. After the members’ congress, doors open to the public – largely professional designers and students of the creative arts – in the form of AGI Open.
Held at the Barbican, one of the leading and largest spaces for the arts in London, AGI Open London sold out its 2,000-seat hall and has helped to establish AGI Open as the foremost design and education conference on the international calendar. Since London, AGI Open has been staged in Sao Paulo, Biel, Seoul, and most recently in Paris.
Paula Scher, President of AGI at the time, commissioned Tony to design the identity. As leader of the UK chapter of AGI he organised and delivered the London Congress with the assistance of?fellow members Angus Hyland, Jeremy Leslie, Domenic Lippa, Sean Perkins and?Adrian Shaughnessy.
